Mission
The mission of the Law Enforcement Department is to:
Uphold the constitutional sovereignty and customs of the Comanche Nation, while protecting the rights of all people, Protect life and property, Ensure employment suitability, and to
Promote and preserve peace within Indian Country.
Deputized Special Officers of the Bureau of Indian Affairs will also uphold the constitutional sovereignty and customs of all Indian Nations.
Philosophy
The philosophy of the Law Enforcement Department is to defend the Nation while serving with fairness and compassion protecting individual rights.
Services
Comanche Nation Law Enforcement provides the following:
- Response to incidents, welfare checks, medical emergencies, and crime prevention activities for the Comanche Nation.
- SORNA officers tasked with the sex offender registry requirements under the Adam Walsh Act of 2005.
- Criminal investigators who investigate, develop, and prepare cases for adjudication in the appropriate courts.
- Dispatches appropriate emergency responders and coordinates police, fire, and medical response.
- Direct community interface through educational efforts of DARE in the local schools and targeted mentoring of youth in the Cops and Kids Picnic and Shop With a Cop.
- CRIME VICTIM LIAISON - The crime victim liaison is the point of contact for individuals requiring further assistance or information from the Comanche Nation Police Department, Bureau of Indian Affairs, or the State of Oklahoma regarding benefits and assistance programs from crime victim resources.
- Comanche Nation Search and Rescue – Officers are fully certified through NASAR (national search and rescue), and have provided search and rescue services to surrounding agencies for law enforcement purposes.
