Mission

The Indian Child Welfare Department protects, preserves, and empowers Comanche children, families, and the community. Grounded in our nation's values, traditions, and sovereignty, we strive to ensure the safety, well-being, and cultural identity of every Comanche child. We aim to preserve Comanche families honor our heritage and promote healing and resilience in our children’s community.

Vision

Protecting the rights of Comanche children, preserving families, and empowering our tribal community by upholding the Indian Child Welfare Act with cultural integrity, advocacy, and compassion.

Services

As part of the department’s renewed initiative to redirect funding to our Foster Children, our services will now specifically be directed to those who are for Certified Comanche Foster Homes, those currently fostering Comanche youth, and those completing a Safety Plan with OHS. They are only available for Comanche youth in Foster Care who are enrolled with the Comanche Nation and between the ages of 0 and 18. For our Preventive Services, we will assist those in a Safety Plan with OHS; documentation is required. This service is designed to encourage and support the Comanche family by helping them get where they need to be and preventing the breakup of the family and the entry of more Comanche Youth into the child welfare system.
