Comanche Nation Dallas Outreach Re-Opens

On Saturday, March 22, Comanche Nation Dallas Outreach held a grand re-opening event in Dallas, Texas. The event had a ribbon cutting and a community meeting. There were also door prizes.

Outreach Coordinator Madison Wiley said it was exciting to open the outreach.

“I'm really excited that we're able to bring this to our people, especially our non-local people,” she said. “Having grown up as a non-local, it's especially special and an honor for me.”

Wiley said it’s important because there have been many Comanches who grew up non-local.

“This allows us to stay connected to our people and our culture in a way that…allows us to, for me at least, feel more centered and…be able to celebrate our heritage,” she said. “And also connect with each other, connect with the tribe, continue to strengthen our tribe and our nation because…we're all over. Especially for Texas…years ago, this was part of the Comanche people's land.”

Wiley has a background in physical therapy. She said serving the people has been her passion. Wiley said she is excited to represent the Comanche Nation in Dallas.

Comanche Nation Chairman Forrest Tahdooahnippah, Comanche Business Committee member Hazel Tahsequah, Tribal Administrator Lisa Dawsey and Comanche Nation programs were in attendance.
