Comanche Nation Hosts Trunk or Treat, Haunted Forest
On Friday, October 25, Comanche Nation hosted a trunk or treat and haunted forest event at Comanche Nation Tribal Complex.
The night began with a trunk or treat in the early evening, followed by a haunted forest by Grasshoppers, EPA, CIP and Prevention and Recovery.
Shannon Mowatt helped coordinate the event, which had its first meetings in early October. The trail began with a hayride and featured a haunted house, a clown carnival, a witch sacrifice and a “wrong turn.”
“EPA came up with a lot of different sections in there. So, like the carnival, the stuff, that was EPA's idea,” she said. “The graveyard, the witch part, wrong turn…that was their baby was the wrong turn was EPA's baby. So, it kind of just came from a little bit from everybody.”
Mowatt’s favorite part was the clown carnival.
“Well, my kids worked that area,” she said. “But on top of that, like…they really got up close to you, and I noticed…that's what a lot of people like. They like people…in their face scaring them.”
Mowatt said every department pitched in for the trail.
“Leatherface, that was Martin from our prevention and recovery. We had Bigfoot, that was Robert from prevention and recovery. We had Michael Myers, that was Anthony from Workforce,” she said. “Pretty much everybody out there was an employee.”
However, the project was also sustainable.
“For the decorations, we used all recyclable stuff. We had some sheets from our women's center donated. We used plastic bottles from EPA. They had some boards out there and metals,” Mowatt said. “That's some of the stuff we made, like our ghost and our graveyard. It's all from cardboard. Everything was recyclable stuff out of EPA and grasshopper stuff.”
She said she was grateful for everyone who pitched into the haunted forest and said about 500 people attended the haunted forest.
