Comanche Nation Fair Hosts Celebrity Meet and Greet

On Saturday, October 1, the Comanche Nation Fair hosted a meet and greet for several celebrities, including Olympian Janee Kassanavoid, Prey co-stars Amber Midthunder and Dakota Beavers, Oklahoma City Thunder basketball player Lindy Waters, and Reservation Dogs actor Sten Joddi.

June Kester, Comanche Nation Fair board’s secretary-treasurer, said the event gathers staff and community members alike.

“I take pride in the Comanche Nation Fair,” she said. “I think it's great. It's a volunteer basis for all of us tribal employees and tribal members, and we all work all year long to get this event together, and then when it happens, we all just want to enjoy it in fellowship with all of our family from across the United States and here locally.”

Kester said the movie Prey created a proud moment for tribal members.

“I think that it's just a really exciting time for our nation, and especially with the movie Prey being in the Comanche language, it's a proud moment for all of us tribal members,” she said.

The celebrities also participated in the Comanche Nation Fair Parade.

“It's really important to have these events for our tribal members,” Kester said. “We haven't had a fair in a couple of years due to COVID, and so we wanted to make sure and have as many great things as possible for them to enjoy, so we wanted to get as many celebrities for them to meet and greet.”
