Students Begin to Plan for Future at Career Day
Students from around the area gathered on Wednesday, September 21, for Comanche Nation's College and Career Day.
“And also, career opportunity forums. We have businesses and organizations set up here to provide information for future careers,” Comanche Nation Director of Higher Education Christian Boos said.
He said the event hasn't been held since the pandemic and is a vital aspect of reaching out to help all students.
“There were non-tribal students as well as non-native students, so we're pretty much people of opportunity,” Boos said.
Organizations included Native American tribes, state entities, and Oklahoma colleges.
Students were able to enjoy prizes, connect with future institutions, and create their own success stories.
“I know for a fact that we've had high school students in the past that have met a president from a future college [or] university,” Boos said. “A student in mind, went on to attend the University of Oklahoma. She received her bachelor's and her master's degree in social work. And it all started with an event like this.”
