Ride Along: Comanche Nation Police Department

The Comanche Nation Police Department protects Tribal Members and those outside the tribe.

The force is spread in a checkerboard trust property in eight counties. Two officers are on shift to cover the areas but usually go to three counties.

To be an officer, there has to be an anticipation of anything…or anyone.

This also includes traveling from county to county to help those in need.

Respond to calls about suspicious campsites.

And to be nearby the tribe’s casinos, where crime runs high.

As well as patrol the parking lots.

But when it comes to lunch on long days, a snack will do.

And plenty of banter.

Not only are the officers on pursuit either by car or foot, but they also make sure squatters aren’t occupying abandoned homes.
