Transit Releases New App for Riders
Rebecca Tahchawwickah, Transit Asset Manager, said they updated their dispatch program, which came with an app that can be found in the Play Store and Apple App Store.
She said clients can book and cancel their own rides as well as receive notifications.
“So, that app now can be accessed by all of our clientele, and they can book their own rides, they can cancel their own rides, they can see their rides, and the best part is it gives them a notification when the driver's five minutes away and they can see where their driver is as driver information is available,” Tahchawwickah said. “So, we're really, really excited about that.”
The software was implemented in July and tested in September. In October, the app was pushed for clients to use, and now there are several users.
“The main reason we wanted to go with the app was so people didn't have to call, if they didn't have to, just to check their ride, when instead they could just get on the app and find out where the drivers at,” Tahchawwickah said. “So, that was our main driving point for that, but the other part was to give them control over their ride, book their ride, and give them the option to feel a little bit more like they have the knowledge of when their ride is coming and how it's going to be there and things of that nature”
During the month of November, there are promotional events happening for Native American Heritage Month and election services.
“We're going to be doing free rides on…November the 8. So, people can book anywhere they want to go and vote in the nation's election. All they got to do is call us and we'll see what we can do to book them a ride to go to and from voting for free,” Tahchawwickah said. “And also, every Tuesday and Thursday of the month of November, we're celebrating Native American Heritage by offering free rides to Native American clients and their families. You don't have to be Comanche. Any type of Native American heritage is absolutely fine with us.That's why we're here. We're celebrating Native American heritage.”
