Spur Casino Celebrates 20th Anniversary
On Saturday, June 24, Comanche Spur Casino in Elgin celebrated its 20th Anniversary.
MLD Over Receiving and Assistant General Manager Kellie McCarthy was there for the start of the Spur Casino.
“We used to actually stop by there. My mom and grandma would play bingo at the VFW and we would always stop and get burgers,” she said. “That's the old spur, and that’s the main. It had a few machines in there as well.”
She said that from there, the casino started growing.
McCarthy said they moved into the new building in 2014.
She said the process was stressful.
“But very exciting, especially for the team members that got to move over with the property. We went from, we've been through a lot of things, majorly, and ultimately new technology,” McCarthy said. “So, we basically got to be retrained. You know, we had new systems. So it was, you know, a little stressful, but we were all excited to be able to do better things for our guests.”
McCarthy said the night was filled with entertainment.
“For our 20th anniversary, we are just going to start feeding, it starts at four o'clock,” she said. “It's going to be until eight o'clock for the guests. We're having hamburgers and hot dogs. We have a band playing from five to eight, and another band that's coming in from eight to twelve. We're going to have a DJ from seven to twelve on the inside. And, we also got a bar set up outside, too for our guests to enjoy the band at the same time while they're having some drinks.”
The event featured DJ Suspense and two bands, Tito Lindsey Band and Zack Crow. There were also swag bags for patrons.
There was also a hot seat event from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m.
The 20th Anniversary started at 4 p.m. and ended at 12 a.m.
