Senior Spotlight: Shaetiel “Shae” Saupitty
Shaetiel “Shae” Saupitty plays trombone for the Boone-Apache High School band.
She’s been playing since sixth grade and said being able to learn the trombone was a success in itself.
“Because when I first started, he didn't want me to do it…because I was smaller, so it took more air to blow into the horn,” Saupitty said.
She said she’ll miss the other musicians.
“With band, I feel like I'm gonna miss all of them back there,” Saupitty said. “They make band really fun.”
She said they make her happy.
“…There’s I don't know, there's like something about them just makes me really happy,” Saupitty said. “They're like a family to me.”
However, she keeps in touch with her heritage by going to powwows with her family.
Saupitty said she likes the music and dancing with everyone.
She also enjoys skating and said the activity came to her.
“…I can kind of skateboard and ice skate,” Saupitty said.
She is also in the art club and a part of Family Career and Community Leaders of America.
Saupitty plans, post-graduation, to attend the University of Oklahoma in Norman, Oklahoma or Cameron University in Lawton, Oklahoma and be in art or band.
“Well…I find it really fun,” she said. “I like playing, I like playing the instruments because I get to play different songs. And for art…I find it also fun because I get to draw so many things that come to my mind.”
Saupitty said she’ll miss being in Apache High School and seeing her friends.
