Senior Spotlight: Ruben Cable
Right Guard for Cache Bulldogs Ruben Cable is involved in football and runs track and field, where he throws shotput.
“I’ve been thrown into the fire around here since I was like a sophomore; since I’ve been playing,” he said. “And then in track, I really just tried it out for the first time last year and so I really enjoyed it and that’s why I’ll be back this year.”
Cable said he’ll miss the Friday night lights.
“I honestly would miss all of this right now, the Friday lights and all the people yelling and the cheering and the band and everything,” he said. “It hasn’t hit me now, but I feel like after it’s all over it’ll hit me.”
Cable said he enjoys playing for his team.
“I enjoy playing with all my brothers out here because it feels like we’re all just one together,” he said. “And I feel like if you ever need somebody to go, any of the coaches they are always there for you; any of your people are always there for you. So, like it just feels like it’s all a family.”
Cable does plan to attend college for a business degree.
“Something in business and then if I get an opportunity to play football in college then I will most definitely take that chance,” he said.
He is also a part of the Cache Native Club and is on the IMNDN youth council.
“It brought me closer to like who I am and what my culture is and I feel like…we went to Unity last year and I feel like going to that makes me realize who we are as a people and what people are trying to take away from us,” Cable said.
He said he enjoys being outdoors.
“I like to be out of the house doing stuff,” he said. “I like to travel. I like golfing at Top Golf, not on a real golf course.”
Cable said he’ll travel to Kentucky with his cousin and travels a lot with IMNDN.
“As of right now my favorite place that I went so far is probably Washington D.C.,” Cable said. “Because we got to see the nation’s capital and to see how busy it is down there and I feel like it was a cool experience.”
