Senior Spotlight: Kenny Wermy
Kenny Wermy, who is a Left Tackle for the Cache Bulldog High School football team, is the son of Deon Wermy and Laura Gould. His father is a Comanche, and his mother is Northern Arapaho.
His college interests include business and psychology. He’s always been interested in entrepreneurship, and several of his coaches also have degrees in psychology.
Wermy is in the Native Club but spends most of his time on the football field.
“Everything grew up around it. My dad and everybody played it around me,” he said. “Watching them growing up and learning about the football here at the bottom just made me fall in love with the sport and made me want to play.”
Before a game, he’s nervous, but once he’s out there, the nerves fade away.
“Usually, I'm nervous before the game, and then once I get out there and get my football in the first inning, it just takes everything away,” Wermy said. “Then, once that first play is there, I'm ready to go in the game, and I'm hyped up.”
His most exciting game was his last game against John Marshall. It was when the Bulldogs scored on the last play of the final down in the drive during overtime. His motivation comes from family.
“Mainly my parents. My family and my parents are a big deal,” Wermy said. “They've always supported me growing up. My plan is just to make it to the big enough spot where I can repay them for doing so much for me throughout my life.”
He has nine offers from colleges which include UCA, Penn State, UCO and other division two schools and doesn’t know which one he’ll be signing for yet.
