Senior Spotlight: Isabel Glenn
Comanche Nation tribal member and high school senior Isabel Glenn plays defensive midfielder on the Cache High School soccer team.
She said her position requires strong chemistry with her teammates.
“It's a pretty special thing to be a part of the Cache girls' soccer,” Glenn said. “The bond is just so close to each other. We love each other so much.”
She said she’s been a part of the team since her freshman year.
“And the more girls come in each year, and it's just we're all so close, and…we bond over the littlest things,” Glenn said. “We're just always together. I mean, we have to be a close team and have that bond if you want to be good and then make it further in playoffs and stuff. So yeah, just being with each other all the time, I'd say, is really what keeps us together and close.”
But her biggest accomplishment was in sophomore year.
“We were ranked one in our district, and we were district champs that year,” Glenn said. “That was a pretty big accomplishment because…all the hard work we put in just showed off right then and there and like we accomplished what we wanted to do.”
Outside of soccer, she hangs out with her friends.
“We all play soccer together, so it's like a given like we're all [going to] be close and stuff like that from that,” Glenn said. “So, just hang out with my friends, being with my family that's what I like to do.”
She said leaving the team would be difficult.
“Being a part of this team, that's what I'm [going to] miss a lot,” Glenn said. “…It's been fun getting to know everyone and just learn all about everyone, and just being able to be on the field with them is just a big thing I'm [going to] miss a lot.”
But making her family proud is her biggest accomplishment.
After graduation, Glenn plans to attend the University of Central Oklahoma and major in biology to learn sonography and become a cardiovascular ultrasound tech.
“I was just trying to think of stuff that would be quick and easy to make money fast and that's something that me and my dad kind of talked about,” she said. “And yeah, where I'm going from there.”
Powwows are also a big part of her family.
“My mom is the JOM coordinator here at Cache, so that's another way that keeps me in touch, and stuff like me personally keeps me going into it all,” Glenn said.
She said she has a great support system, from family to friends to teammates.
