Senior Spotlight: Ayriana Gray

Ayriana Gray plays right side for the Clinton High School Lady Reds volleyball team.

She said her most significant accomplishment was being a better teammate.

“With myself for sure, I would like have a bad attitude during games when I would just be in my head, like my own head, so overcoming that took a long time,” Gray said. “So that was definitely my biggest accomplishment was just the battle with myself in the game, like the mindset.”

Gray said she’ll miss the trust in her teammates and the team overall.

“My sophomore year was definitely like my favorite team I had,” she said. “We just had a lot of bonding experience, so we played really well together like we just were in sync all the time and it was just fun playing on the court with them.”

Gray said learning about her teammates and communication helped with revolving teammates.

“You got to know your teammates really well,” she said.

Gray said if she could play volleyball in college, she would.

“But I don't think I see myself going for that right now just because it's a lot of work,” Gray said. “College sports are a lot and I would definitely put the work and energy into it though, but besides that I think I want to do either like real estate or veterinarian.”

She said she’s always loved animals and feels being a veterinarian has called to her.

“I like helping, so I think with the love with animals and the love with helping, I could help be an enjoyment when I get older,” Gray said.

She said real estate would also be a good business opportunity if being a veterinarian doesn’t work out.

When it comes to heritage, being around family and in the Lawton area.

“I try to go up there a lot; hang out with my family and then we'll go out and do stuff just around and like being in Lawton already, there's just a lot of your tribe around, you know, there's a lot of stuff you can do and go help,” Gray said. “And then they always have like those events and stuff like they had that free backpack thing, like that's just little stuff like that.”

She said she enjoys volleyball and also plays soccer and basketball.
