Schools Dwindle in Day Four of Basketball Tournament

Boys in the 2023 Comanche County Highschool Basketball Tournament tipped off their elimination round on Friday, January 20.

 

The competition began with Cache Bulldogs and Geronimo Blue Jays. 

 

With two minutes left of the first quarter, Bulldog Jeremiah Booth would score three points and get a free throw.

 

Geronimo will respond a minute later, and Blue Jay Joseph McCarthy will make a three.

 

The quarter would end Geronimo 17 and Cache 11.

 

And the response from Booth would come at 3:40 left.

 

Cache dominated the second quarter making 12 more points and allowing 7.

 

At the half, the score is Cache 29, Geronimo 24.

 

Things heated up in the third quarter with Blue Jay McCarthy making three and would do it again soon after.

 

The quarter ends 51 Geronimo, 42 Cache.

 

Cache would only score 10 points in the fourth, while Geronimo gets another 14.

 

The game ends 65 to 54 – Geronimo.

 

Fletcher Wildcats and Chattanooga Warriors tipped off their game, with Warriors scoring three after Fletcher’s two free throws.

 

With minutes to spare, Warrior Jalen LeGrand would sink 2.

 

The quarter would end Chattanooga 19, Fletcher 6.

 

In the Second, Fletcher would only score a three, and Blue Jay Evan Wauqua put his second basket on the board.

 

The half would finish 24 Chattanooga, 9 Fletcher.

 

In the third, Wildcat Jade Ketchum would score two.

 

Fletcher would fall to Chattanooga with a final score of 46 to 30.

 

During the Indiahoma Warriors and Big Pasture Rangers game, Warrior JJ McClung scored the first point.

 

And to end the first quarter, Warrior Trenton Stinson would make a three with seconds to spare.

 

The score after the first would be Big Pasture 13 and Indiahona 9.

 

During the second quarter, Warrior Stinson would score the first two points, and so would JJ McClung.

 

The half would finish 30 Big Pasture and 14 Indiahoma.

 

During the third quarter, Big Pasture would start with a basket, but Warrior Joseyah Johnson would sink two, and the scoring streak begins until the Rangers score a free throw.

 

The fourth would continue the same momentum, and the game would end with Big Pasture 53, Indiahoma 43.

 

After the Walters Blue Devils and Sterling Tigers tipped off, Blue Devils made a basket.

 

Tigers would respond with a three and, with four minutes left, a basket from Nate Anderson.

 

The score at half would be tied 28 to 28.

 

In the second half, Walters would break the tie, and Blue Devil Kason Johson put at least four more points on the board. Including one at the top of the 3rd

 

The game would end with Sterling 61 and Walters 46.
