Salvation Army of Lawton Opens Warming Shelter During Colder Weather

With the upcoming cold weather, The Salvation Army of Lawton will open its Warming Shelter to provide a safe and warm space for those in need.

Location: 1314 SW E Ave, Lawton, OK

Days & Times of Operation:

Monday (1/06): 7:00 PM – 9:00 AM

Tuesday (1/07): 7:00 PM – 9:00 AM

Wednesday (1/08): 7:00 PM – 9:00 AM

Thursday (1/09): 7:00 PM – 9:00 AM

(Times may change depending on weather conditions.)

How You Can Help:

We’re accepting donations to support our efforts. Items needed include Dog and Cat food.

  • Styrofoam cups (10–12 oz)
  • Coffee
  • Breakfast pastries
  • Instant oatmeal packets
  • Bananas
  • Non-Perishables & Warm Items:
  • Socks
  • Tents
  • Hand warmers
  • Stocking hats
  • Warm blankets

Volunteers Needed:

We need volunteers from 7:00 – 10:00 PM to help welcome guests and assist with operations. Our paid staff will handle overnight hours.

Free Transportation:

Starting January 7th, 2025, LATS is introducing a new policy to help keep our community safe and warm during extreme cold weather.

If temperatures drop below freezing with wind chill, all LATS services will be FREE for the day!

Your safety and comfort are our top priorities. We want to make sure everyone in Lawton has access to transportation, especially when the weather gets tough. We're here to keep you safe, warm, and connected!

Be weather-aware, stay safe, and stay warm, Lawton!

*LATS will offer free rides to anyone who needs to be transported to the Salvation Army's Warming Centers. Individuals can also ride any bus on any route to escape the cold weather.
