Girl's Continue Play in Third Day of Basketball Tournament

On Thursday, Jan. 18, the Comanche County High School Basketball Tournament continued at the Great Plains Coliseum.

 

Fletcher Lady Wildcats and Big Pasture Lady Rangers tipped off the day with a half-time score of Big Pasture 19 and Fletcher 7.

 

Fletcher would have a comeback in the third quarter but would fall in the fourth with a final score, Big Pasture 39 and Fletcher 22.

 

Tipton Lady Tigers and Indiahoma Lady Warriors would finish the first frame with baskets from Lila Tissychy and Kayden Steele, ending Tipton 10 to Indiahoma 5.

 

During the second Lady Warrior, Isabela Ramirez would sink three, and the half would end Tipton 25, Indiahoma 10.

 

Lady Warrior Kayden Steele would begin the third frame with two points and would finish it with a lay-up. Tipton would continue its lead 32 to 16.

 

Ramirez is back in the fourth, sinking two. Later on, Madison Koweno would follow suit and make a 3.

 

Emily Martinez would make a bucket, and the game would finish Tipton 42 to Indiahoma 25.

 

Sterling Lady Tigers and Geronimo Lady Blue Jays tipped off the evening with a three from Lady Tigers’ Ashlyn Clift in the first frame and would end Sterling 6 to Geronimo 2.

 

Into the second, with another 3 from Clift, Lady Blue Jay McKenzie Huffman misses her shot, but Crissa Gomez is there for the putback. The half would be Sterling 18 and Geronimo 10.

 

Lady Blue Jays Huffman and Gomez would work the third, scoring 10 points for Geronimo, and the team would go into the fourth Geronimo 28, Sterling 20.

 

Geronimo would continue their streak, ending the game 39 to 25.

 

The last game of the night was Walters Lady Blue Devils and Chattanooga Lady Warriors. The first points would come from Walters.

 

There would be several responses from Chattanooga, and the half would be Chattanooga 12 to Walters 8.

 

During the second half, the Lady Blue Devils would add points early on, and the Lady Warriors would take the third 17 to 11.

 

Chattanooga and Walters would keep the game close, but it would end Chattanooga 25 to Walters 13.

 

The finals will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 20, with Big Pasture facing Tipton. Then, the battle for third place will be against Walters and Sterling.

 

Geronimo will face Chattanooga at 6:30 p.m., and Gomez said she was excited about the competition.

 

“We’ve played chatty. I think we're ready for them," she said. "We haven't faced Walters yet, but should be a good game."

Chattanooga Lady Warrior Rheyana Matlock said she was ready for Saturday’s game.

 

“I think I'm like really excited for my whole team," she said. "I'm pretty nervous if we don't make it, but I'm really excited about it, and I'm happy."
