Competition Continues in Fourth Day of Basketball Tournament

The Comanche County High School Basketball Tournament Continued on Friday, January 19, with Geronimo Blue Jays and Tipton Tigers tipping off at the Great Plains Coliseum.

 

Geronimo would get a bucket during the first frame and finish it with a three from Dayson Gomez, going into the second Tipton 12 to Geronimo 8.

 

Blue Jay Sergio Maldonado would sink a bucket, and at the end of the half, Tipton would lead 24 to Geronimo 18.

 

Blue Jays would tie twice in the third and get points from Maldonado and Gomez, finishing Tipton 36 to Geronimo 34.

 

Gomez begins the fourth with a three, and the quarter would tie twice before the game would finish: Geronimo 46, Tipton 44.

 

Indiahoma Warriors and Fletcher Wildcats would be next to tip-off, with Indiahoma dominating the first 16 to 5, with a bucket from Tristan Locklear.

 

Fletcher would put some points on the board in the second, finishing Indiahoma 29 to Fletcher 17.

 

During the third, Warrior Jacob McClung would start with a bucket and, later, a three from Joesyah Johnson. Wildcats would continue to respond, finishing Indiahoma 41 to Fletcher 29.

 

Indiahoma would finish 46 to Fletcher 38.

 

Big Pasture Rangers and Chattanooga Warriors were next to face off with a close first frame, ending Big Pasture 19 to Chattanooga 11.

 

In the second, Warrior Michael Paddyaker would put a total of 6 points on the board, and the half would finish Chattanooga 34 to Big Pasture 27.

 

Both teams would tie in the third, and Big Pasture would lead 42 to Chattanooga 34. In the fourth, Big Pasture would win 62 to Chattanooga 41.

 

Sterling Tigers and Walters Blue Devils began the final game of the night with a first-quarter score of Sterling 12 to Walters 5.

 

Blue Devil Jermaine Chasenah would be quick to score in the second with a halftime score of Sterling 22 to Walters 14.

 

Into the third, Walters would catch up and make it a 4-point game, with Sterling 33 to Walters 29.

 

The game would end with Sterling 52 to Walters 49 with points from Chasenah.

 

On Saturday, January 20, games will begin at 11 a.m. with girls' Consolation Big Pasture versus Tipton, then Boys Geronimo versus Indiahoma. Girls third place is slated for 2 p.m. with Sterling and Walters and boys at 3:30 p.m. with Chattanooga versus Walters.

 

Championship night will begin at 6:30 p.m. with Geronimo facing Chattanooga and 8 p.m. with Big Pasture and Sterling.

 

Sterling Tiger Aydan Mithlo said he’s ready to play Big Pasture for the second year in a row.

 

“It feels good to be going to the championship again like last year because we could have a chance to win it again,” he said. “It just feels great.”
