Comanche Nation Swears in Commissioners, Board Members

On Thursday, January 23, Comanche Nation Chairman Forrest Tahdooahnippah swore in new gaming commissioners and Comanche Nation Entertainment board members at the Comanche Nation Tax Commission.

 

Two of those sworn in were Margret Corley and Tanisha Burgess.

 

Corley, who swore in to be on the gaming board of directors, said the job is to work directly with Comanche Nation Entertainment to ensure its success.

 

She said she’s excited to be on the board and is looking forward to the unity that has been absent.

 

“It's important for me as a tribal member because I'm always looking for ways to better serve our nation,” Corley said. “And this role that I've been given, I'm very, very proud of and I'm really looking forward to working directly with all the people that will ensure its success as well as my own.”

 

Burgess swore to be Vice Commissioner of the Comanche Nation Gaming Commission. She said she’ll be a part of regulation oversight of all gaming properties.

 

Burgess said the goals for right now are to follow all policies and procedures and is excited to move into the role.

 

“It is a big job. You're not only looking out for yourself and the employees of the commission as well as the casinos, but it's the nation as a whole, and that's a big job,” she said. “And I'm glad to be part of a board that will help making sure that we're protecting the integrity of the Comanche Nation.”

 

Cheryl Lewis was also sworn in for the Comanche Entertainment Board of Directors, while Joshua Mihesuah and Rudolph Laurenzana Jr. were sworn in for the Comanche Nation Gaming Commission.

 

Comanche Nation Business Committee Members and Tribal Administrator Lisa Dawsey were in attendance.
