Comanche Nation Police Department Reaches Out at Cops and Kids
On Saturday, September 9, Comanche Nation Police Department held its annual Cops and Kids event at the Comanche Nation Powwow Grounds.
Dispatch Supervisor Jennifer Caddo said the event lets the community know law enforcement cares about them.
“So, many people see the negative side of law enforcement, but we want to let them know we're here to support the Comanche Nation tribe and everyone in the community,” she said.
Caddo said it took a lot of networking to put on the event, which featured several inflatables, laser tag, snow cones and a children’s powwow.
There were several activities to keep patrons busy.
Agencies across the state, Missing and Murdered Indigenous People, Prevention and Recovery and other organizations also attended Cops and Kids.
“We love doing it,” Caddo said. “The officers, they love engaging with the kids. They love this opportunity to have fun and let loose and let the kids see another side of them that they don't necessarily get to see all the time.”
Comanche Nation Princess McKenzi Sovo, Comanche Nation Jr. Princess Vivien Parker, CIVA Princess Arelene Schonchin and Native American Marine Corps Veterans Association Princess Kasey Atauvich were at the event.
There was a raffle giving away bikes, toys and electronics.
