Comanche Nation Museum Gift Shop Holiday Sale
The Comanche Nation Museum Gift Shop is hosting a holiday sale for members of the community.
Gift Shop Director Fred Codynah said the sale began December 6 and will end December 24.
“It's 25 percent off your highest price item, and you don't have to be a tribal member; it's for everybody,” he said. “And then your second highest-price item is your tribal discount. If you're an elder, it's 20 percent off. If you're not an elder it's 15 percent off. And then your third highest item is 10 percent off.”
And this year’s top sell is the Pendletons and blankets and throws; there’s not much left.
“Fleece blankets, not a whole lot. We still got a lot of Pendletons, we got Comanche Pendletons, we got a lot of those. And we got new hoodies in,” Codynah said.
He said all of the profits go back to the Comanche Nation, and the gift shop is also a place for learning Comanche history.
“My favorite part, I tell everybody is, what I love about it is I get to meet people from all over the world. I mean, we get people from everywhere, especially the military, come in,” Codynah said. “We got military men from all over the world there that come in here. I mean everywhere. That's the best thing I love about here is meeting people from all over. Getting to talk to them about their culture and they ask me about ours and all that. That's good.”
The store also sells craft supplies and local art; however, his favorite items are the T-shirts.
“We come up with a lot of different designs. We don't just keep selling the same old ones,” Codynah said. “We do sell the best sellers. We'll reorder, but we like to come up with something different every time we like this. We don't have to keep the same old ones.”
The museum will be open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. with hopes for an extra hour of shopping and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The store will be open on Christmas Eve.
