Comanche County High School Basketball Tournament Heats Up in Second Day of Tournament
On January 18 at 4:30 p.m., the Great Plains Coliseum began its tip-off of the boy’s teams for the 2023 Comanche County High School Basketball Tournament.
Big Pasture Rangers and Junior Varsity Cache Bulldogs took it to the hardwood, with the Rangers starting the game off with three points.
Cache would soon respond.
Bulldog number 12, Mykkaa Coleman, would put a point on the board after the Rangers foul.
Big Pasture dominated the first quarter with a score of 29 to 6.
During the second quarter, Bulldog Jeremiah Booth would make a 3-pointer and a point after another Ranger's foul.
The second would end 40 – Big Pasture, 14 – Cache.
Booth scores two points during the third quarter of the game and finishes out strong during the fourth.
He would score seven points to finish out the game.
The final score was Rangers 70, Bulldogs 40.
Next up were the Sterling Tigers and Fletcher Wildcats.
Both teams had points on the board with 6:33 left; however, Fletcher would fall behind 18 to 7.
Wildcat Christian Larue would put his first points up during the second quarter after the Tiger's foul.
Fletcher would maintain an 11-point gap at the half, 33-22, Sterling ahead.
With only 7 points in the second half, Fletcher would fall with a final score of 63 to 27.
Walters Blue Devils and Chattanooga Warriors began their game with a two-pointer from the Blue Devils about 30 seconds into the game.
Warrior Owyn McCoin would sink 2 with 10 seconds left in the first quarter.
Walters would only allow 7 points in the first quarter while they scored 18.
At 4:32 left in the third, Warrior Jalen LeGrand would score two points.
The score before the fourth is 53 to 28.
Walters would keep Chattanooga scoreless in the last quarter but would score 12 more points, winning the game 65 to 28.
Indiahoma Warriors and Geronimo Blue Jays began their game with a score from Warrior number 34 JJ McClung.
Geronimo would respond about halfway through the first quarter and have a score with about 40 seconds to spare from Blue Jay Jayden Wallace and would eventually tie it 8 to 8.
During the second quarter, both teams would hold each other; however, the Warriors would score within 30 seconds, and Joesyah Johnson would put 4 more on the board.
Blue Jay Joseph McCarthy would respond with a three before McClung scored again.
The half would be 18 Inidahoma, and 11 Geronimo.
Into the third quarter, Warrior Joesyah Johnson would sink two at about 5:53 left and complete the scoring streak at the start before Blue Jays make a three.
Indiahioma dominated the third quarter; however, in the fourth, Blue Jays held on with McCarthy making a three, and the team continued with two three-score streaks.
The game would conclude Indiahoma 42 Geronimo 32.
Games will continue for the boys at 4:30 p.m. Friday, January 19, with Cache vs. Geronimo.
