Comanche County Basketball Tournament Begins
Girls high school basketball teams took it to the hardwood at the Great Plains Coliseum on Monday, January 15, for the Comanche County Basketball Tournament.
Tip-off began at 4:30 p.m. with Indiahoma Lady Warriors playing against Walters Lady Blue Devils.
The game began with Walters scoring two points within the first minute and will keep the momentum, ending the quarter with 14 points, Indiahoma 0.
Lady Blue Devil Jessie Ototivo will put some points on board during the second quarter. Walters will keep Indiahoma scoreless and take the half 29 to 0.
Indiahoma would begin putting some points on the board with a two-pointer from Tayah Kaudle-Kaulay. Finishing Walters 43 to Indiahoma 5.
The game's final quarter would end with Walters 49 and Indiahoma 11.
Chattanooga Lady Warriors and Tipton Lady Tigers played next, with Chattanooga starting a scoring streak at the start of the quarter and would finish 19 to 2.
Lady Tigers would stay behind in the second quarter, with the Lady Warriors taking the half 34 to 2.
During the second half, both teams will adjust, and Chattanooga will take the game 65 to Tipton 17.
Geronimo Blue Jay McKenzie Huffman scored the most points in the first quarter, and the team scored 35 points against the Fletcher Wildcats during the first quarter of the game, leaving the Wildcats behind with a total of 3 points.
The scoring streak would continue until the end of the half, with Geronimo 55 and Fletcher 8, with points from Alison Daly.
Fletcher’s Kaitlyn Avila would put points on the board, but Geronimo would continue their scoring spree and end the game 84 to 22.
Big Pasture Lady Rangers faced off against the returning champions, Sterling Lady Tigers, with the Tigers finishing 16 to Rangers 8 in the first quarter.
Sterling would continue their lead in the second quarter, finishing 29 to 13 with points from Ashlyn Clift.
Big Pasture would continue to fight in the second half but would end Sterling 53 to Big Pasture 30.
The girls will continue to play on Thursday, January 18, at 4:30 p.m. with Fletcher playing Big Pasture; then it’s Tipton versus Indiahoma.
The final two games will be Geronimo and Sterling and Chattanooga versus Walters.
