Assisted Living Creates Festive Christmas Candyland Event

The Comanche Nation Assisted Living Center began prepping for Christmas Candyland as soon as Thanksgiving was over. They were decorating all the up until the event, which was on December 15, according to Activities Director and CNA Heather Casale.

“I think my favorite area is the Candyland. It had just so much activities, and that’s where the residents are also,” she said.

The activities included children learning the Comanche language and taking pictures with Santa Claus.

Casale said it’s essential for the children to learn the language.

“The Comanche Nation Language came, and so we had different activities that had the language incorporated with their activities,” she said. “So, the residents enjoyed spending that time with them also.”

Casale said her favorite part is when the kids arrive because they were energetic. Which is also essential for residents, according to Casale

“They don’t get to get out very much, so this is like their opportunity to interact, with not only with children, with staff, with families,” she said.

Casale said everyone had a hand in decorating the facilities.

“Every inch of this building, all the workers, even some residents participated in decorating, and so, it was just a big family enjoying Christmas, and it’s always a joy to see them happy,” she said.

According to Casale, Administrator and RN Jennifer Williams goes above and beyond for residents and the children.

“And she just makes everything happen, and it’s always bigger and better every season or every holiday that we happen to participate in; it’s just amazing,” she said.

KCA Head Start, Apache Early Childhood Development Center and Comanche Academy Charter School attended the event.
