Senior Spotlight: Cayden Jones

Cayden Jones is a senior for the Yukon Millers. He sports number 91 on the football field and plays interior tackle on the defensive line.

He’s a direct descendent of Quanah Parker and the grandson of Gary Mahsetky.

“I got into football because I felt that I just wanted to do something, play a sport, and I've been playing since seventh grade, since the middle school,” Jones said. “I didn't really have a specific reason besides watching my brother play and wanting to be able to be on a team. Honestly, the plans that I have are still undecided for what I'm going to do later. Skills that I learned would probably have to be accountability, discipline and making sure you are just there and being there for people that you love and care about, especially the people I played with. I really would call them brothers, and I wouldn't trade them for anything.”

Although the future is unplanned, he is interested in the medical field.

“I've always had a thing for medical, so maybe something around those lines,” Jones said. “I'm thinking about going to vo-tech because I think it's until you’re 24 is when it's free. But I want to try and get a first semester done with either welding or something around programming lines and then figuring out from there.”

He said he tries to visit the complex when he can.

“Usually just powwows with my mom depending on when she goes just because she has to watch after my sister, and we don't really get to go out and do much,” Jones said. “But just school and work, just being occupied. Can't really go and do much. Powwows would probably be the only thing I've been to.”

He said most his most memorable game was when the team played Norman North.

“There isn't a certain one, but if I was going to put one on the spot, it would probably be our first win this season, and I believe it was Norman North,” Jones said. “That was just, it was just something about the atmosphere of that game that I wanted it every time.”

He said if he were to go to anyone it would be former senior Zach Stillwell. Cayden said together, they perfected his craft.

“Anybody that would probably be looking up to me that I would mentor would probably be, I want to say, Bryce Roy,” he said. “He was an offensive lineman, and he decided to come over to defense. He's a pretty good guy, but he is still a work in progress. We're getting him there. But he's going to be good.”

When he’s not on the field, Jones is at the gym or hanging out with friends.
