Summer Youth Employment Program (SYEP) Officially Starts!!

Tuesday, June 8, 2021 - 6:16pm

The Comanche Nation Workforce Department has officially started its Summer Youth Employment Program (SYEP), one of the six services that Workforce provides to tribal youth, ages 14 to 24 years of age, on June 7th, 2021!! The tribal youth attended their Youth Orientation and will begin their first day of work on June 8th, 2021.

This 2021 year is special for the SYEP as it is the first time (probably in a very long time or never) that NO, and we repeat, NO tribal youth were DENIED services. In the past, if a tribal youth did not meet the qualifications, DOL guidelines, rules, regulations, or eligibility for the program, a "Denial Letter" was sent to the tribal youth, imforming them that they would not be able to work. This year, over 100+ tribal youth applications were submitted, and not any of them were "denied". So far, there is only two active categories: Accepted Applicants (those who are going to work) and the Waiting List (those who are still missing supporting documentation). We hope that the Waiting List tribal youth will get their chance soon enough!

Looks like it will be another successful Summer Youth Employment Program, hosted by the Workforce Department!!!!
