We offer Occupant Protection classes with car seat distribution, Smoke Alarms, fire extinguishers, and carbon monoxide detectors for all tribal members when available. Bike helmets are provided during children's events or in the office and are for all tribal members when available. Oklahoma's Child Restraint Law (O.O. 47-11-1112) Effective November 1, 2015:
- 0-2 years: Must be in a rear-facing seat until at least 2 years of age, or until the child reaches the weight or height limit of the car seat.
- 2-4 years: Must be in a car seat with a harness until at least 4 years of age.
- 4-8 years: Must be in a car seat or booster seat until at least 8 years of age, unless the child is taller than 4'9".
- All children younger than 13 years old should ride in the back seat.
We offer Occupant Protection classes every month from March-October at the tribal complex. Classes are offered by appointment and emergency needs in the office during the winter months.
We assist tribal families with car seats, from infant to eight years of age.
We advocate for families with the Oklahoma Safe Kids for special needs children, to receive a car seat.
The program provides smoke alarms, fire extinguishers, and carbon monoxide detectors for all tribal members when they are available. Talking smoke alarms are installed in the home of the blind or partially blind tribal members.
Bike helmets are provided for the children during the CN Cops & Kids event, CN Back to School Bash and at Christmas for those receiving bikes or riding toys. Bike helmets and skateboard helmets are provided for any tribal member when they are available.
The program sponsors the "Walking -3-Year-olds" at Prevention & Recovery's annual Easter Egg hunt at Comanche Nation for the community.
